How Organizations Can Donate StoryBooks to NGOs in Nigeria
Many organisations are interested in helping young children with low literacy level overcome this challenge by donating storybooks to credible NGOs helping these kids in this regard. HoodProf is one of the few nonprofits helping children in underserved communities improve their literacy levels through community based reading clubs.
HoodProf bookclubs are ward based as we strive towards setting up books distribution points across the 8,809 wards across Nigeria. Through this community based distribution of storybooks we hope to reach about a thousand kids per ward, and close to 9 million kids across Nigeria.
We are already building a book borrowing infrastructure with our pilot phase at Ward B in Egbe-Idimu LCDA, where kids could simply walk to these distribution points and borrow storybooks.
We have noticed remarkable improvement in literacy level in some of the kids in our bookclubs, and through our annual spelling Bee competition we exposé these kids to educational contest that help build their self confidence and also foster their hunger for academic excellence.
HoodProf books distribution strategy is a great example of how many kids who have never set foot in a library can receive storybooks that can help them in their journey towards academic excellence.
